And anyway it was more about context for someone else - who had seen my facebook status and wanted to know what I was resigned from... not much really. Just being in Div Two - nothing more.

Being Northern has nothing to do with it - how like you to reduce it to an opposition between two concepts - just a recognition that one is a genuine rock god whilst the others were aping poseurs.
Good name for a band though "The Aping Poseurs".
Blur never professed to be ROCK gods - Brit POP Kings maybe...
Oasis is all about them. Blur's music was more observational and certainly kept the Aping Poseurs of the sarf happy..
